In his book titled "The Spirit Poured Out on All Flesh" renowned Pentecostal scholar, Amos Young proposes a Pentecostal theology and, perhaps more importantly, outlines a pneumatological approach to soteriology, where he notes that Pentecostal soteriology is often characterized as spiritual than political and other worldly than this worldly. Social soteriology on it's part offers a theological reverse, but the prophetically setting of the Messianic mission of Christ requires us to bring both approaches of salvation together so as to embrace the Trinitarian vision and purpose of the messianic mission of Christ foretold and fore practiced by the prophet.
One of the books that offers such prospect is the gospel of Mark. Mark's Gospel stresses the deeds, strength, and determination of Jesus not only in overcoming evil forces through healings of bodies but also portrays a Jesus who teaching and works defies the power of imperial Rome. It is hailed by Post-Colonial Biblical scholars as an anti-imperial Gospel. It is, therefore, in this missio-political book that my text is situated as I attempt to present "THE IGBO-GADITE STORY OF EMANCIPATION", otherwise known as the "Miracle of the swine" or the "Exorcism of the Demoniac" from a Post-Colonial Biblical Perspective where I will employ "diaspora" as methodology in order to understand the cause of the afflictions of the African man's distresses, Jesus' approach to it and how this "miracle" speaks to our diasporic experiences."
That's "Lost & Found: The Igbo-Gadites Story of Emancipation" on the Good News TV that's www.goodnewstv.org.uk 8-9pm. Don't miss!
