Christus Africanus : The Life of Jesus In Africa [Egypt] by Lady Apostle Diana Adu

The continent of Africa was the cradle of human life. Each stage in the development of humankind can be traced in the African record. The ancient civilization of Egypt and Kush flourished there. In the classical world of Greece and Rome, Africa was regarded as a source of wealth, wisdom, spirituality and the birthplace of humanity [VDM Verlag Dr. Müller Andrew Walls].

Scholars also unanimously agree that Africa is the birthplace of formulation of Christian doctrines and of Christian religious life. Anthony is believed to be the first Christian anchorite [a word located to the flight of the holy family to Africa with deep meaning of a detachment from the world to a spiritual life of prayer, contemplation and meditation] who embraced heremitical life in Egypt [Africa].

This was the beginning of Christian monasticism which begun in Egypt [Africa] and later defused to other places.

Today, Africa has the largest number of Christians, [approximately 630million adherents] with Christianity itself still standing as the world's largest religion with over 2 billion adherents according to the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Most scholars also agree to the phenomenon referred to as the modern shift of the center of gravity of Christianity which expresses that the heartlands of the Christian faith are no longer found in the western world but in Africa [Andrew Walls; Kwame Bediako].

This introduction takes me to the defence of my sermon [thesis] themed CHRISTUS AFRICANUS - CHRIST THE AFRICAN which explores the mystery of life of Christ in Africa and it's prophetic, spiritual, social and political connotations to Africans then and it's implications now for Africans in the diaspora as we prepare for the celebration of the Nativity in the West.
