This month, according to the word of the Lord, LOVE, LUST, RAPE AND SEXUAL ABUSE happens to be our theme. Each of the biblical personalities chosen for our study and life lesson from this drama happens to have been raped. Both are called Tamar. We would first begin with Tamar of Judah because of her role played as the ancestor of our dear lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
In the study, you will note that each of these women were violently stripped off their garment, which is symbolic of their identity, destiny and divine commission. God unveiled to me by His good Spirit that satan has made strategies to do likewise to some of the sons and daughters in the kingdom, because we happen to be in the season of nakedness in the satanic calendar. February is the month of the Lupercalia, or carnival celebrated all over Italy. It is a time when men and women move and danced in the street naked or take the identity of the dog or goat (symbolic of the satyr, spirit of witchcraft, profanity and death). But as the Lord liveth, it shall not stand. You shall not die nor go naked in the mighty name of Jesus!!!
Tamar was according to sources, a Canaanite temple prostitute, who got married to Er, the first born of Judah. This man abused her so badly in their sexual relationship that he was killed by God. “Her name was Tamar. “Er angered the LORD. So the LORD took away his life.” Gen.38:6,7. Let me pause here to ask you this: have you ever thought that the root to your failures can be that you are under the curse of death for the way you treat your wife? Selah!!
This widow had hardly finished mourning or rather thanking God for deliverance from Er, her husband when “tradition” of the levirate marriage demanded that she be given as wife to the son of Judah. Under this tradition, the widow is obligated to marry her deceased husband's brother who in Tamar’s case happened to be Onan.
A levirate marriage is a type of marriage in which the brother of a deceased man is obligated to marry his brother's widow. Levirate marriage has been practiced by societies with a strong clan structure in which exogamous marriage (i.e., that outside the clan) was forbidden. It is or was known in many societies around the world. The practice is similar to widow inheritance, where, for example, the deceased husband's kin can dictate whom the widow may marry. The term is a derivative of the latin" word levir, meaning "husband's brother".
But the bible’s statement concerning Onan, causes us to pause; for instead of allowing this brother of the deceased to marry Tamar according to tradition, Judah, their father and father in law of Tamar, tells his son to just go and have sex with the woman to preserve tradition and to preserve your brother’s seed.
“Then Judah said to Onan, "Go sleep with your brother’s widow. Do your duty (what is right according to our tradition), for her as a brother–in–law, and produce a descendant for your brother." Ge 38:10
“But Onan knew that the descendant wouldn’t belong to him, so whenever he slept with his brother’s widow, he wasted his semen on the ground to avoid giving his brother a progeny.”
Many pause here to say that, it is wrong for marriage couples to use preservatives. But my QUESTION is: “Is it the act that provoked God’s wrath, or the callous heart behind the act?”.
I believe it is both. This is because this woman was birthed by God for a divine commission. She was born to impregnate the ancestor of Christ. It was through her that Jesus the seed that would bruise the serpent was to come forth. Yes, she was not an Israelite by birth but she was an Israelite by spiritual birth. Yet satan determined to thwart her destiny into idolatrous prostitution so the saviour would not be born. But God in his divine wisdom allowed Judah to choose her for his firstborn son Er. God’s hands is in human affairs and no purpose of His cannot be thwarted.
Could Judah Have Been Judah’s Client?
As a woman, I have always felt that this woman was Judah’s client. Before you think that such a proposal is unthinkable, let me please remind you of what the prophets wrote in their books on idolatrous practices. Prophet Amos in chapter 2 verse 7 of his book says, “This is what the LORD says: Because Israel has committed three crimes, and now a fourth crime, I will not change my plans. Firstly, the people of Israel sell the righteous for money and the needy for a pair of sandals.
Secondly, they stomp the heads of the poor into the dust. Thirdly, they push the humble out of the way and fourthly, Father and son sleep with the same woman. They dishonor my holy name. Beside every altar, they spread themselves out on clothes taken as security. In the temples of their gods, they drink the wine that they bought with fines.
In Ezekiel 22 verses 11A, the prophet says: “One hath committed abomination with his neighbour’s wife; another hath lewdly defiled his daughter in law; and another in thee hath humbled his sister, his father’s daughter. In Chapter 33 verse 26, he says “Ge 35:22
1Co 5:1 ¶ A case of immorality is reported as actually existing among you, an immorality unheard of even among the heathen—that a man co-habits with his father’s wife.Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile everyone his neighbour’s wife: and shall ye possess the land?
One time, I was watching happen to stop by a “mafia” film whiles changing channel and saw this father teaching his shy son a supposed act of bravery and do you know what he did?? He took his son to his own mistress to sleep with her. This is the depth of the profanity of humans if left by themselves alone, without God. This is also, the more reason why they love to serve idols! Such were the practices of pagans.
Thus it would not come as a surprise to me, to suggest that, Judah might have known Tamar before he brought her home. You will recognize that, Judah was a man who was not a novice in sleeping with temple prostitutes. So Judah brings his ex-girlfriend into their home to marry his son and when his son dies. Who knows what Judah might have thought. “This girl is no good, she is just a prostitute; but I am forced to let her marry my next son. “So he tells his son, just go and sleep with her.” Only prostitutes are treated this way. But do you know that many men today are doing the same thing to their wives? They enter the bedroom and say: “hey come and lie down and let me do my thing”! This was the remarks of a woman who called me after watching the first part of the “Invisible Taylor” aired on our TV Broadcast, where I had invited some anointed men of God to come speak on the issue. Bible says in Genesis 38:10 that “What Onan did angered the LORD so much (because it was evil in his sight), that the LORD took away Onan’s life too.”
TAMAR
After the death of Tamar’s second husband, she was supposed to be engaged to Shelah, the third son of Judah; But this time, Judah said to his daughter–in–law Tamar, "Return to your father’s home. Live as a widow until my son Shelah grows up." But he said that because, he thought that this son, too, might die like his brothers. So Tamar went to live in her father’s home.” Ge 38:11

But as God will have it, this woman became the wife of Judah and mother of Pharez and Zerah. Bible says that, “¶ After a long time Judah’s wife, the daughter of Shua, died. When Judah had finished mourning, he and his friend Hirah from Adullam went to Timnah where the men were shearing Judah’s sheep. As soon as Tamar was told that her father-in-law was on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep, she took off her widow’s clothes, covered her face with a veil, and disguised herself. Then she sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. (She did this because she realized that Shelah was grown up now, and she hadn’t been given to him in marriage.) When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute because she had covered her face. Since he didn’t know she was his daughter-in-law, he approached her by the roadside and said, "Come on, let’s sleep together!" She asked, "What will you pay to sleep with me?" "I’ll send you a young goat from the flock," he answered. She said, "First give me something as a deposit until you send it. "What should I give you as a deposit?" he asked. "Your signet ring, its cord, and the shepherd’s staff that’s in your hand," she answered. So he gave them to her. Then he slept with her, and she became pregnant. After she got up and left, she took off her veil and put her widow’s clothes back on. Judah sent his friend Hirah to deliver the young goat so that he could get back his deposit from the woman, but his friend couldn’t find her. He asked the men of that area, "Where’s that prostitute who was beside the road at Enaim?" "There’s no prostitute here," they answered. So he went back to Judah and said, "I couldn’t find her. Even the men of that area said, ‘There’s no prostitute here.’" Then Judah said, "Let her keep what I gave her, or we’ll become a laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you couldn’t find her." ¶ About three months later Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar has been acting like a prostitute. What’s more, because of it she’s pregnant." Judah ordered, "Bring her out to be burned." As she was brought out, she sent a message to her father-in-law, "I’m pregnant by the man who owns these things. See if you recognize whose signet ring, cord, and shepherd’s staff these are." Judah recognized them and said, "She’s not guilty. I am! She did this because I haven’t given her my son Shelah." Judah never made love to her again. The time came for Tamar to give birth, and she had twin boys. When she was giving birth, one of them put out his hand. The midwife took a piece of red yarn, tied it on his wrist, and said, "This one came out first." As he pulled back his hand, his brother was born. So she said, "Is this how you burst into the world!" He was named Perez Bursting Into. After that his brother was born with the red yarn on his hand. He was named Zerah Sunrise.
Perez is the ancestor of two families of Judah, the Hezronites and Hamulites; from the Hezronites came the royal line of David and of Christ. Pharez, menas breach or breakthrough. Why would this woman ever name her son as this. Yes!! Certainly, she had broken through marital shame, she had broken through her past and she had broken through the satanic bulwarks that impeded her from achieving her destiny and from fulfilling her divine commission in life. Watch this, "The chief of all the captains of the host for the first month" in the reign of David was taken from his family #1Ch 27:3 You shall breakthrough and come out as first and not the last. The head and not the tail in the mighty name of Jesus. Whoever God has destined to put seed in you shall be pulled by the power of God to your attraction in Jesus name. A prostitute is one who is thwarted from his mission or destiny. When you don’t do what God called you to do and are in something else which might even look pleasing and rewarding, it is called prostitution; I therefore, believe that God is about to put many thwarted destinies in shape, in Jesus name!!
Don’t loose your garment!!
The episode of Tamar heightens in Genesis 38: 12-14 when Judah’s wife died. And Judah went to Timnah where the men were shearing Judah’s sheep (it was the time of their festival), But as soon as Tamar was told that her father–in–law was on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep, she took off her widow’s clothes, covered her face with a veil, and disguised herself. Then she sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. Now in the prophetic word given by God, to me said “Don’t loose your garment.”. Tamar’s story explains this mystery. Don’t loose your garment means, don’t let despair push you to be who you are not and don’t let despair take you back to what you used to do and don’t let God’s delay cause you to fight in your own strength or use your abilities to get what you think you need. Don’t also allow the shame, pain and maltreatments you’ve gone through in the hands of abusive men determine who God means or wants you to be!! Don’t lose your nature, your style, your elegance!! Don’t lose your faith, your holiness, and your uprightness. Don’t lose your garment!! Don’t loose your garment of righteousness and of praise!
Bible says she did this because she realized that Shelah was grown up now, and she hadn’t been given to him in marriage. She went back into prostitution; she used what she had to get what she wants. Bible says this is not who she was but she disguised herself. She became an actress. This is a word used for witchcraft or a hypocrite. She took on a nature, style or walk that she was not. Do you sometime act in a way only to get what you want? This is prostitution. Your act will attract only abusers.
The Veil Question – What happens in the dark?
In verse 15-16 bible also says Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute because she had covered her face.” This is deep revelation girls. The bible is saying that, the man made advances at her because “her face was covered”. Covering is symbolic of ignorance and being in the dark. The man wooed her, in the dark and slept with her in the dark. Don’t allow them to do this to you in secrecy. Many are the men who hurt Christian girls in the dark. They woo them and say “do not let anybody know, or we will be suspended”, but before the girt would realise, this same has uncovered so many maidens in the dark. Bible says if you allow them to kiss you in the dark and fond your breast in the dark and have outer courses with you in the dark, they will think that, you are a prostitute!!!!! This is to tell you that, if you allow a man to do things with you under cover, in the dark, you are allowing them to treat you as a prostitute. Next time when they tell you to do such things under cover, in the dark, expose their works of darkness and let them know you are not a prostitute. This is exactly what Tamar did. He thought she was a prostitute and had asked for her hire but what Tamar asked as deposit was more than a deposit. It was a righteous covenant she demanded. She asked to be married, wedded before sleeping with the man. She refused to birth a bastard unknowing that out of her womb and of this seed would come the Messiah! Halleluia!!
The second danger of doing things in the dark is that, you never know who this person really is and you never know the next person he is going to meet again in the dark. Judah didn’t know she was his daughter–in–law, he approached her by the roadside and said, "Come on, let’s sleep together!"
Judah slept with a girl whose face was covered. Do you know who you are kissing? “She asked, "What will you pay to sleep with me?" This girl was an ex prostitute and knew that every sexual act has a price and she named hers. Sex was ordained by God for divine exchange and profaned by satan for unholy exchange. “What is it that you have exchange for sleeping with that girl or man? When Judah said he will give a goat, the girl asked him to give a deposit. So Judah deposited his "signet ring, its cord, and the shepherd’s staff exchanged his ring (authority). He temporarily suspended or sold his authority, his power and his position to an unknown person!! Jesus!!!!
Satan Plans for Tamar’s Public Disgrace
“¶ And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar your daughter in law has played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by prostitution. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt. When she was brought forth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, whose these are, am I with child: and she said, Discern, I pray you, whose are these, the signet, and bracelets, and staff. And Judah acknowledged them, and said, She has been more righteous than I; because that I gave her not to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more. And it came to pass in the time of her travail, that, behold, twins were in her womb. And it came to pass, when she travailed, that the one put out his hand: and the midwife took and bound on his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first. And it came to pass, as he drew back his hand, that, behold, his brother came out: and she said, How have you broken forth? this breach be on you: therefore his name was called Pharez. And afterward came out his brother, that had the scarlet thread on his hand: and his name was called Zarah.”
Look at this man. After going for prostitutes in the dark, he came out in the open to exercise his exchanged authority and it wouldn’t work. He had forgotten that after sleeping with that woman he was no more who is used to be. And so his authority did not work. Listen to me. Those barking at you to have you burnt are dogs without teeth. Their authority have been stripped from them 2000 years ago and like Judah, their curses, words and threats, shall not stand. Every public disgrace planned against you because of what you did in the dark has been stayed by God. God says I should tell you that, this is because you are a child of destiny who has fought the battle of destiny. Satan is afraid of what is in you. He is afraid of the child of the scarlet thread in you!!!!! Your products are first class products. Your CD’s shall be first class. Your ministry shall be first class! They shall be Perez and Zarah. Double blessing for your shame. The blood shall protect whatever you might have birth prematurely and you shall enjoy their manifestation at their appointed appearance like Zara, the child with the scarlet thread. And likewise, what ever is hindering your breakthrough, shall see the power of the blood speak for your breakthrough.
This is deep because in the revelation given to me God had prepared robes in scarlet and gold for this destiny children. Thus the scarlet robe defines God seal on you. “Touch not”. They touched your mother but now God has put an end to this generational curse. This is what I heard the Spirit of God saying that satan has planned to expose some people for public shame, but it shall not stand. The God who justified Tamar, shall justify you!!
TAMAR, Daughter of David
Unveiling the course of the curse of sexual abuse, rape, and rejection
¶ After this, David’s son Amnon fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of David’s son Absalom. Amnon was so obsessed with his half sister Tamar that he made himself sick. It seemed impossible for him to be alone with her because she was a virgin. Amnon had a friend by the name of Jonadab, a son of David’s brother Shimea. Jonadab was a very clever man. He asked Amnon, "Why are you, the king’s son, so worn out morning after morning? Won’t you tell me?" "I’m in love with Absalom’s sister Tamar," he answered. Then Jonadab told him, "Lie down on your bed. Act sick, and when your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come to feed me. She can prepare a meal in front of me as I watch her, and she can feed me.’" So Amnon lay down and acted sick, and the king came to see him. Amnon asked the king, "Please let my sister Tamar come and make some bread in front of me, and she can feed me." David sent for Tamar at the palace. "Please go to your brother Amnon’s home," he said, "and prepare some food for him." So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s home. He was lying down. She took dough, kneaded it, made flat bread in front of him, and cooked it. Then she took the pan and served him the bread. But he refused to eat. "Have everyone leave me," he said. So everyone left him. Amnon told Tamar, "Bring the food into the bedroom so that you can feed me." Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in the bedroom. When she handed it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me, Tamar!" "No," she told him, "don’t rape me! That shouldn’t be done in Israel. Don’t do this godless act! Where could I go in my disgrace? And you will be considered one of the godless fools in Israel! Speak to the king. He won’t refuse your request to marry me." But Amnon wouldn’t listen to her. He grabbed his sister and raped her. Now, Amnon developed an intense hatred for her. His hatred for her was greater than the lust he had felt for her. "Get out of here," he told her. She said to him, "No, sending me away is a greater wrong than the other thing you did to me!" But he wouldn’t listen to her. Then he called his personal servant and said, "Get rid of her. Put her out, and bolt the door behind her." (She was wearing a long-sleeved gown. The king’s virgin daughters wore this kind of robe.) So his servant took her out and bolted the door behind her. Tamar put ashes on her head, tore the long-sleeved gown she had on, put her hands on her head, and went away crying.
As I draw up my curtain of the prophetic, I would like to address the question which many have tempted to answer. Why was Tamar raped? I have heard many people say that, it is because she lived under a cursed roof and some others say that it was a curse pronounced by God in her family because of her father’s sins. Does the bible not say that the children shall not suffer for the sins of their fathers? And that it is the soul that sinneth that shall die? So why should David’s children who were all children of destiny and loved by God endure such curses?. This is relevant because many people are going through the turmoils of Tamar where they are abused by men; where they are abused in marriages; when their husbands have sex with them as if they are prostitutes or just objects; where they are being used and passed on from friend to friend, and when their own father’s uncle’s, brothers in Christ, pastor’s bishops, etc are abusing them sexually, and yet to which all they do is to cover their faces with the veil and seal their mouth.
To whoever that will ask, Why did God allow Tamar, David’s daughter to be raped under the roof of David?, the answer is in the above story. Our Tamar’s today are the young girls, boys, and wives who are being raped occasionally or daily in their very homes, outside the home, schools, and church and yet whose tragedy seems to be a taboo to speak about. ALL IS DONE UNDER COVER. The veiled women are being unveiled in the dark!
But our answer comes from our main story today from Genesis 38 where we see the identity of our God. He is the God of justice who justified a Canaanite woman of destiny. Would he not have done the same for Tamar the daughter of David. Tamar the Canaanite became the great great grand ma of Tamar the daughter of David and this is where the Holy Ghost prompted me that a curse without a cause shall not stand.
A Curse without Cause shall not alight
The curse of sexual abuse found a cause to each of these individuals lives because it found a cause. If you were a careful reader, you would have noticed some striking similarities in the live and story of this first Tamar and the second Tamar. This is not coincidental, nor accidental but generational. It has been proven that sexual abuse, abusive marriage, not being lucky in marriage and the tragedy of falling in love with men from the same house is generational.
In one of my sittings, we found out that, a woman whom the social services asked me to mediate on and investigate why she refused to allow her daughter to go to school, was infact protecting her daughter from her rapist. She said her daughter who was nine years was raped when coming from school, but whiles she spoke, I felt the spirit of God prompting me to ask if she herself had been raped and she said yes. She said her sister who brought her from Nigeria to Italy sold her into prostitution and this is where men raped her as if she was an object. Why should this small girl endure the same tragedies of her mother? Bible says a curse without a cause shall not alight.
The cause of rape found a cause, a door and Tamar the daughter of David, was raped.
The Cause? spirit of incest
The cause was the name. The name Tamar though looks Jewish, was given to a Canaanite woman and Canaanites were accused people. Canaan was the seed of rape. His father Ham raped his mother. This is called incest. So the spirit of incest was a generational curse running down the line of David. Tamar the Canaanite, means Tamar the unbeliever. Who suffers in abusive relationships until she gets born again. And after she is saved and delivered, God places a scarlet rope in her blood line to purify and cease the hand of death and rape in her lineage, so that, he seed shall be holy. But after many generations, Satan finds a door to bruise another Tamar. As I said. Tamar the Canaanite was abused by his husbands brother and father. So in our language, this was incest. And in the same likewise, Tamar the daughter of David was used and abused; raped by her half brother. If you will recognize, she even asked the brother to marry her before they could have sex, but like the first Tamar, “he only had sex with her and threw her away like a rag”. This was a generational curse at work which found a door through the sins of David their father.
In one of my counselling, to a woman who was going through the pain of rejection by her husband, the Lord told me to ask her if she knew about the love stories of her mother and about how somethings about her father that her mother was hiding from her. I had hardly finished speaking, when she said, “yes pastor, when I called my mother that I cant endure this marriage again, she told me to hold on because my father did worse to her.” So I asked her what do you mean by this and she said, “my mother told me that my husbands womanizing is not as my father’s. And that my father would bring the women right in their marital bed and have sex with them in my mother’s presence.” So the Holy Ghost was right. This woman’s tragedy in marriage was generational.
The cause of incest, rape and sexual abuses can be because of the roots of idolatry, polygamy, and levirate marriages.
THE SCARLET THREAD – THE BLOOD OF JESUS
A thread in scripture is the very life of man. In Job 7:6 “Our days are compared to a sewing machine. It is symbolic of day consumed without hope.” Life is often spoken of as a thread used in making a dress or like a dress that is being sewn because an advance is constantly made in filling up the web, and because it is soon finished, and is then cut off.. and Ecclesiastes 12:6-12:7 mentions of silver thread to be loosed." It says "Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, (the silver thread of life is cut off, that is, before the spirit of man leaves his body), and then the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it."
King Hezekiah also makes the same statement when he was sick unto death and says that his life Isaiah 38:12 when he says “My life was over. ……… You rolled up my life like a weaver (like a tailors thread). You cut me off from the loom (TAYLOR’S shop). You ended my life in one day. Gwv This is exactly what Tamar the daughter of Shua and Tamar the daughter of David said after she was raped. And this are the same words echoed by millions of lives after they are raped.
Rahab of Jericho
Now let me take your minds back to the book of Joshua, where bible says the city of Jericho (Canaan) also known as the city of Palms which means Tamar, was under the wrath of God. But in this Tamar was a seed called Rahad. She also went through the case of abuse, prostitution and rape, until she was led to the scarlet thread. This is what ceased the hand of death and rape from her house and she and her house were delivered. She also was a woman of destiny and became the great grand ma of Christ. Jericho which is Tamar became devoted to God.
Then as we go on to the NT, we find that bible says that the Roman Soldier clothed Christ with a scarlet robe in mockery. They mocked his divinity. They mocked his kingship and the mocked the power that is in the blood. But the blood of Christ cannot be mocked and after his resurrection, HIS BLOOD IS NO MORE MOCKED. There are times that it seems your prayers and the pleading of the blood is not working. But let me assure you that, it does not matter how it satan mocks, the blood that spoke for Abel and for Tamar and for Rahad and for the Jews shall speak and Pharoah and his hoset shall be seen no more!!! The scarlet robe was put on Christ for you and I for in him we live and move and have our very essence. Jesus is our Perez, and the voice of the cursed blood line of our parents that speaks, rape, incest, marital and sexual abuse shall be shut up!!!!!
It is no wonder that as we were preparing on our theme for this month, God showed me a tailor sewing beautiful gowns and the colors were scarlet. It is symbolic of a new life. To us believers it is symbolic of the blood of Jesus. This is why it is important to know the generational curses running down your family, not close your eyes to them and to plead the blood of Jesus of them. A thread is also symbolic of a line. We Christian are now born with the blood of Christ and therefore, have Christ untainted blood running down our veins and into the veins of our progeny. But it is our duty to apply it confess it and rehears it. The curse therefore, found the door because the blood was not applied, for when the angel of death sees the blood “he must Passover”!!!
I believe that God is prophetically speaking to some mothers, fathers, young girls and boys to pause a while and reflect and speak to their parent about some of their abusive relations and also speak to God. It might be that you are going through what you are going, because of a name, or because one of your parents might have suffered the same tragedy. I also believe that God in this month is going to speak to some people in dreams and vision about his issue. Some of you also, might dream of seeing yourselves naked or make naked or somebody taking away your cloth or looking on your nakedness. It all speaks about immorality, fornication, adultery, or abusive relations and rape. All you must do is to claim your inheritance and vehemently plead the blood of Christ and demand for your release from this captivity. This is what Tamar should have done. She should have been told about the mystery of the scarlet robe which was given to her through her grandfather Perez and put it on in her time of appearance for she was raped at the edge of her breakthrough. You shall not suffer this in Jesus name.
Today maybe the beginning of a new day, week, month or year for you as you read this prophecy. The first must always be dedicated to God. Satan is out against first-born sons and daughters and children of destiny.
